The United States is facing an epidemic of animal homelessness and neglect, with 70 million homeless cats and dogs struggling to survive on the streets; countless dogs kept chained or penned outside 24/7 without adequate shelter, veterinary care, or affection; and cats allowed to roam outdoors to face the deadly dangers of speeding cars, spreading diseases, and cruel humans. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) works to end this crisis by urging everyone to adopt from shelters and keep their dogs and cats indoors as beloved members of the family.
